SCA Certified

Bonavita meets the stringent standards of the SCA, which recognizes home coffee brewers that meet their rigorous technical requirements. These requirements - which include proper temperature - are based on decades of industry expertise by the Coffee Brewing Center.

Bonavita is universally recognized as an exemplary home brewer and as SCA Certified Brewers who meet the qualifications for the SCA Golden Cup. Being the industry standard, Bonavita coffee brewers are used by judges in World Coffee Competitions.

Descaling

We recommend descaling the brewer at least once every 100 uses. If you have hard water, descaling more often is recommended. We recommend using a good quality biodegradable and phosphate-free coffee machine descaler. (Please note: Descaler should not be confused with Cleaner. They serve different purposes.) Descaler is designed to break down mineral buildup inside your brewer to ensure great coffee and consistent functionality. Follow the descaler manufacturer instructions for use. (We do not recommend using vinegar to clean or descale your brewer. Vinegar may not effectively descale your brewer, and can be difficult to rinse thoroughly. Vinegar may also leave behind an odor that can impact the flavor of your coffee.)

If your brewer is steaming more than usual, it is time to descale.

I love the elegant look and the temperature is perfect.
However I find I have to use more coffee than usual. Maybe it drips down too fast.
The cup numbers are a challenge to read

Best coffee maker

If you are looking for a great coffee maker, with ease of use, this is it. We use home distilled water, and by following the directions, it makes a strong cup of coffee. I do tend to grind my beans more on the fine, rather than coarse side. This coffee maker sits on top of the pot, fills from the left side, and is one push of the button. We had an older version which was a lot slower and did not have the signal when the coffee was done, This is a nice added feature.
