Try this creamy, healthy, sweet hot chocolate made with fresh cashew milk and butter created in the NutraMilk. Cashews are rich in heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, they are a source of essential minerals and various antioxidants, they have the highest content of zinc and copper than any other nut.... just to name a few of the healthy nutrients that cashews provide.
INGREDIENTS
For hot chocolate
- 500ml plant-based milk of choice made with the NutraMilk ( I used cashew milk)
- 2 tbsp. cacao powder
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup (optional)
- 1 tbsp. cashew butter, plus extra to serve made with the NutraMilk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
For cashew butter & milk
- 2 cups (300g) cashews
- 1/8 teaspoon Pink Himalayan salt (optional)
- 1 quart (946ml) water
INSTRUCTIONS
For cashew butter & milk
- Start by making fresh cashew milk with the NutraMilk:
- Place cashews in the NutraMilk container.
- Press Butter cycle, set for set for 5-6 minutes or until you get a creamy butter consistency. Press Start.
- Take out half of the butter, and set aside 1 tbsp. for this recipe, store the rest for later use. Now continue to make milk:
- Open the container lid, add water and replace lid.
- Press Mix (do not change the default Mix time).
- Press Start.
- Press Dispense.
- Press Start and open spigot to fill your storage container.
- Now add all hot chocolate ingredients to the NutraMilk or use a hand blender and mix until smooth.
- Transfer the milky mixture to a small saucepan and heat gently until warmed through. Stir regularly to help it froth.
- Serve warm with some extra cacao, marshmallows, cacao nibs and cashew butter.
