Product Certifications: SCA Certified, ETL certified

SCA Certified

Bonavita meets the stringent standards of the SCA, which recognizes home coffee brewers that meet their rigorous technical requirements and qualifications for the SCA Golden Cup. These requirements - which include proper temperature - are based on decades of industry expertise by the Coffee Brewing Center.

As a leader in setting the industry standards for SCA certification of brewers, Bonavita brewers are universally recognized as exemplary home brewers and are used by judges in World Coffee Competitions.

Descaling

We recommend descaling the brewer at least once every 100 uses. If you have hard water, descaling more often is recommended. We recommend using a good quality biodegradable and phosphate-free coffee machine descaler. (Please note: Descaler should not be confused with Cleaner. They serve different purposes.) Descaler is designed to break down mineral buildup inside your brewer to ensure great coffee and consistent functionality. Follow the descaler manufacturer instructions for use. (We do not recommend using vinegar to clean or descale your brewer. Vinegar may not effectively descale your brewer, and can be difficult to rinse thoroughly. Vinegar may also leave behind an odor that can impact the flavor of your coffee.)

If your brewer is steaming more than usual, it is time to descale

we like it. it makes good coffee. the only thing about it is that - following the completion of the brewing - it continues to "drip" into the container for several minutes, so if we move the container to the table, we will have to wipe up the drips on the coffee maker.

Pretty Perfect

My last Bonavita lasted about 10 years (would have lasted longer if I had descaled it once in a while). The Enthusiast exceeds it in every possible way. The carafe is superior. The electronics are what one would expect in 2024 while still being super simple. It looks great and is fast and quiet. The removable water tank is a big improvement, if for no other reason that you can pour out the last drops of water each time and keep it clean. A minor negative - I prefer the older cone style filter system. They use less grounds in the real world and good coffee is very expensive. Overall, an incredible machine. I just wish they weren't out of the black one when I ordered!

Great Coffee, Good New Design

After having a Bonavita coffee brewer for years we knew what a superior cup of coffee it produced. Our old faithful machine finally gave up after daily use, multiple times a day, each time giving consistently good results. We immediately ordered a new Bonavita, fully expecting the same. We did indeed get the same great coffee. The design has been revamped mostly for the better. The carafe opening is wide enough to get your hand inside for an easy, thorough cleaning. Yay! Brewing starts with the lid on the carafe. Another yay! The grounds basket attaches easily and securely, another plus; no fear of knocking it off. A bloom button is a nice touch for those who really get into the grounds (?) with their coffee. We actually were never unsatisfied without it though. The biggest concern is with removing the lid on the carafe. You twist (unscrew) the lid and then lift off. The problem comes with the lifting off. I am older and do not have as much grip as I once did, and perhaps that's the problem, but the lid is slick and that makes it difficutl to lift off. A texturized grasp point would help tremendously. Nevertheless, we wouldn't trade my Bonavita for any other brewer in its price range!

Enthused About the Enthusiast

1. It makes really good coffee.
2. It's fast.
3. Coffee stays hot for a long time in the thermal carafe.
Only complaint--it's not easy to get the top off the thermal carafe; I have to fuss with it for a minute or two each time...
